Project description
Elder persons have limited access to computer and language education, legal counselling services, health prevention and care services which hampers their participation in social life and leads to exclusion.
The aim of the project was to activate elder people and include them in social life through participation in activities developing their interests and engagement in activities led for their own group.
The activities conducted let 200 55+ persons from Szczytno and Kętrzyn improve their competencies in using computers and their command of foreign languages, and increase their mobility. The persons deepened their awareness of their rights and started activities for others.
55+ persons took part in computer lessons (90 persons), language lessons (90 persons), artistic lessons (40 persons), mobility and recreational activities (200 persons), lessons of happy aging (90 persons), integration meetings and trips on foot and on bicycles. 18 persons were trained in providing care services, and as volunteers spent 720 hours taking care for other seniors. 40 senior women took part in training on counteracting discrimination, and two senior men-volunteers spent 96 hours giving legal advice. Seniors were trained to conduct lessons for other seniors in the field of ICT (30 persons), English language (30 persons), mobility lessons (80 persons), foot and bicycle tourism (20 persons).
Beneficiaries of the project were 200 55+ persons from Szczytno and Kętrzyn.
The partner of the project, the Foundation for professional and social integration, and for entrepreneurial development VIA was responsible for organising some of the lessons. The University of the Third Age in Szczytno at the Foundation Archipelago of Social Innovation, gave support in promoting the project and recruiting participants.
