The UDP Programme published in 2013 shows that one of the most vital issues to be addressed in the Lublin Province is a low level of involvement of the local communities in solving the problems of their close environment (representatives of the local communities very rarely participate in the meeting of the municipalities' problem groups). On the other hand young people attempt to take shortcuts in order to solve problems much too often - using verbal, psychological and physical violence. During the last three years, the number of discrimination acts has increased by several dozen percentage points. “The Polish Prejudice Survey 2013" also confirms the dramatic increase of discrimination based on cultural differences, colour of skin, nationality or sexual orientation. Such attitudes are very common among the inhabitants of the Lublin Province. Organisation came to such conclusion not only analysing the reports but also through participating, as a partner, in “Journalists against discrimination" - a project addressed to local newspapers. The aim of the project was to prepare young people in the Lublin Province for addressing the local issues in three categories: fight against discrimination, hate speech and social exclusion; facilitating access to culture and development of skills necessary for using civil media; ecology and animal rights. 143 young people from 6 towns participated in the project implementation. They learned how to diagnose the local problems, they carried out actions aimed to stop discrimination against older people and the disabled, they organized cultural events (concerts, films, etc.). Also training was conducted on how to diagnose the local problems and how to prepare projects. The young participants also had the opportunity to get consultations on their projects (coaching). They prepared 28 projects and 10 of them were implemented. Tools were developed to support addressing the local issues: a board game (500 copies), scenarios for educational activities, a manual for introducing young people into project development and management (500 copies). Students of lower secondary schools in 6 towns benefited from the project implementation. The partner was the Foundation for the Development of Culture and Science "The Right Bank" and was responsible for promotion and for supporting the groups while diagnosing the local problems. They were also responsible for creating the board game.
