Project description
Not only are transgender persons suffering marginalisation in social life – they are also considerably less visible within the LGBT movement itself. While homosexuality-related issues form a crucial component of the Polish public debate, matters of sexual diversity are considerably less known to the general public. Furthermore, the transgender perspective does not enjoy sufficient presence in LGBT organisations’ activities.
The purpose of the project was to make issues of sexual diversity central to LGBT community interests, and to foster the position of transgender persons.
Project results involved the sensitisation of a total of 1,200 persons (representatives of local non-governmental organisations included) to issues of sexual diversity, and empowering 26 transsexual individuals.
Trans*Festival, a four-day event focusing entirely on sexual diversity, was organised as part of the project. The Festival involved 4 art exhibitions, 5 film screenings, 6 workshops, and 16 presentations with accompanying debates. Furthermore, three artistic field workshops (photography, creative writing, fashion) were organised for 26 transgender persons. Workshop participants created pieces for future use in Foundation work in the area of fostering transsexuality-related knowledge.
Project beneficiaries included 1,200 individuals (Festival attendants) and 26 workshop participants.
