Project description
Women of the Opole voivodship interviewed by the Association talked of discrimination against women at the workplace: while the usual associations involve unequal rules of recruitment and remuneration, little attention is paid to such behaviour as gender stereotype-related jokes and comments, assessment based on looks, comments suggesting negligence of violence and sexual harassment issues, behaviour belittling female accomplishment, and acts of age-based discrimination.
The project purpose was to make Opole voivodship residents aware of the issue of discrimination against women in educational activities, and to support persons suffering of gender-based discrimination.
The project allowed 400 persons to learn how to identify discriminative behaviour and duly react thereto. Legal and psychological aid was offered to 31 women – discrimination and workplace mobbing victims. A series of workshops on preventing discrimination was delivered. Two city games were organised to raise the participants’ awareness of the circumstances of discrimination victims. Two open lectures were held, involving 2 panel debates, 2 film screenings, and 2 meetings with experts, to the overall purpose of joint debates concerning strategies of preventing discrimination against women. Eight articles were published in the local press; 4 radio programmes on the situation of women were broadcast twice. Five hundred copies of a visual graphic publication showing the situation of a female discrimination victim were printed.
Seventy-six persons attended anti-discrimination workshops. Thirty-nine persons participated in city games. Legal and psychological aid was offered to 31 women. A total of 310 persons attended lectures and discussions. The publication was distributed to over 50 companies, institutions, and organisations.
