The experiences of the European Federation of National Organisations Working with the Homeless show that many refugees live in homeless and night shelters. Brother Albert Assistance Society runs 130 such establishments. Most of their workers have no experience and sufficient knowledge to work with refugees.

The aim of the project was to prepare the organisation for reception and integration of new groups of refugees through trainings for workers of the organisation and to develop a guidebook for work with refugees. 69 persons working with homeless enhanced their knowledge on refugee problems and cultural differences. Three two-day trainings were organised in Gdańsk, Wrocław and Kaczyn near Kielce (in all 69 participants), preceded by two study visits (Spain, Jordan - three persons implementing the project participated in each visit) aimed at familiarising participants with the problem of refugee crisis, and a meeting in Gdańsk with participation of experts from Spain and Jordan (two persons from each country) concerning work with people from different cultures. A guidebook on working with migrants with a multilingual leaflet was prepared for publication. The project activities benefited 73 workers of establishments supporting homeless people in the regions of Podkarpacie, Małopolska, Śląsk and in Gdańsk. In the future, the information presented in the guidebook will be available for workers of all establishments of the grant recipient and partners.

Saint Brother Albert Aid Society Main Board helped in organising training in Wrocław and Kaczyn, and the role of the Foundation Socially Safe was to arange study visits and meeting of partners in Poland.
